Pete Fitch, Antje Lenhart, Tom Phillips, Adamu Suleiman and Marijn van Capelle all acted as demonstrators/co-leaders during the Wessex Basin fieldtrip. The trip was led/co-led by Gary Hampson, Alistair Fraser, Howard Johnson and Peter Fitch and was attended by MSc Petroleum Geoscience, Geophysics and Engineering students.
Chris Jackson attended and co-led the LOBE 2 sponsors’ fieldtrip to the Neuquén Basin, Argentina (18th-25th October). The trip was organised and co-led by consortium leaders from the universities of Manchester (Prof. Stephen Flint) and Leeds (Prof. David Hodgson), in addition to researchers from La Plata (Dr Ernesto Schwarz). The fieldtrip focused on the sedimentology and stratigraphy of Lower Jurassic, early post-rift deep-water deposits and was attended by 20 participants representing 11 major oil companies.
The Basins Research Group (BRG) at Imperial College London focuses on the geodynamic, struc-tural, and stratigraphic evolution of sedimentary basins. This range of ac-tivities is centred around a multidisciplinary group of Earth Scientists who are committed to understand-ing the fundamental geo-logical processes opera-ting in evolving sediment-ary basins, and the application of this under-standing to determining the nature, origin and occurrence of natural resources (see Themes).
