Craig Magee has been invited to present work on the mechanisms of magma emplacement at the GSA (Denver) and AGU (San Francisco) conferences in October and December 2013, respectively.
Congratulations to Stefano Patruno, who passed his PhD viva with NO CORRECTIONS! Stefano's PhD was entitled "Geological characterization of sand-prone subaqueous delta systems: a case study of the Upper Jurassic Sognefjord Formation (Troll Field, Northern North Sea, offshore Norway) and global examples" and was supervised by Chris Jackson andGary Hampson. His examiners were Fabio Trincardi (ISMAR) and Phil Allen (IC).
Matthew Lewis, Rebecca Bell, Anette Tvedt (University of Bergen) and Chris Jackson visited PGS (7th June) to present the results of their ongoing research that uses PGS seismic data from the Egersund Basin, offshore SW Norway. Matt, Anette and Chris presented work related to the tectono-stratigraphic of salt-influenced rift basins, whereas Becky presented the results of a full-waveform inversion study of a structurally complex diapir.

The Basins Research Group (BRG) at Imperial College London focuses on the geodynamic, struc-tural, and stratigraphic evolution of sedimentary basins. This range of ac-tivities is centred around a multidisciplinary group of Earth Scientists who are committed to understand-ing the fundamental geo-logical processes opera-ting in evolving sediment-ary basins, and the application of this under-standing to determining the nature, origin and occurrence of natural resources (see Themes).
