Stefano Patruno submitted his PhD thesis. Well done, Stefano! Just the viva to go now...
Marijn van Cappelle is undertaking fieldwork on the Sego Sandstone, Book Cliffs, Utah. Above is a picture of a typical day in the field. His PhD is focused on the sedimentology, facies architecture and sequence stratigraphy of the transition from fluvial to tidal realms, and is supervised by Howard Johnson and Gary Hampson. Daniel Collins and Renee de Bruijn (Universiteit Utrecht) are assisting him in the field. Marijn and Dan are already welcome guests at Ray's Tavern in Green River, where they are served drinks before they even order...
The Basins Research Group (BRG) at Imperial College London focuses on the geodynamic, struc-tural, and stratigraphic evolution of sedimentary basins. This range of ac-tivities is centred around a multidisciplinary group of Earth Scientists who are committed to understand-ing the fundamental geo-logical processes opera-ting in evolving sediment-ary basins, and the application of this under-standing to determining the nature, origin and occurrence of natural resources (see Themes).
