Led by Chris Jackson, Al Fraser, and Ian Kane (Statoil), the Petroleum MSc's undertook field work in the Pennine Basin, Derbyshire, aided by demonstrators Alex Coleman, Adamu Suleiman, Peter Lai and Johan Claringbould.
Chris Jackson visited Oriol Ferrer at Royal Holloway to look around the Fault Dynamics Group’s physical modelling laboratory and to discuss research collaborative projects, principally focused around salt-influenced normal faulting and forced folding.

Carl Jacquemyn was awarded £1500 from the Arthur Holmes Centenary Research Grant. The funding will be used to support a short research project to understand the thermal evolution of diagenetic fluids along veins by clumped isotope analyses on dolomite vein cements.
Carl Jacquemyn gave an invited talk to the GoCAD Group in Nancy (France). The talk was entitled: “A diagenetic vs. a sedimentary system: two different approaches for reservoir modelling applied to hydrothermal dolomite and storm-deposits.”

The Basins Research Group (BRG) at Imperial College London focuses on the geodynamic, struc-tural, and stratigraphic evolution of sedimentary basins. This range of ac-tivities is centred around a multidisciplinary group of Earth Scientists who are committed to understand-ing the fundamental geo-logical processes opera-ting in evolving sediment-ary basins, and the application of this under-standing to determining the nature, origin and occurrence of natural resources (see Themes).
