Conference Field Trip
If you can spot a scorpion in this photo in ≤ 5 seconds, your chance of sting-free field trip is 70%... | Fremont Canyon shows Archean basement overlaid by Palaeozoic sedimentary sequences. Can you identify a major unconformity surface and dyke intrusion in here? |
Private Pre-conference Trips
Becky, Johan and Antje had a short excursion to Red Rocks, Dinosaur Ridge and the idyllic town of Golden, close to Denver after the AAPG conference. Some impressions below:
Steeply dipping Red Rocks close to Morrison, Colorado with an amphitheatre that is used for open air concerts between the rocks. The Red Rocks belong to the Pennsylvanian Fountain Formation and are composed of conglomerates and sandstone beds. | Dinosaur tracks in the Cretaceous Dakota Group. The tracks mostly include Iguanodon-like footprints, but tracks of a carnivorous theropod are also present. |
